Eta Compute was founded in 2015 with the vision that the proliferation of intelligent devices at the network edge will make daily life safer, healthier, comfortable and more convenient without sacrificing privacy and security. It’s recently launched DIAL™ Technology is the world’s lowest power embedded platform that delivers significantly more machine intelligence to energy-constrained products. For a given power source, DIAL delivers the most compute power enabling local intelligence on the device which increases accuracy and speed of decisions. Processing at the network edge also reduces power hungry RF transmissions extending battery life while improving security and privacy.

Leadership Team

Eta Compute is fueled by a team of world leaders in machine learning, CPU and SoC architects, analog and digital designers, most with more than 20 years experience. More than 60% of Eta Compute’s engineering team holds a Ph.D.

Gopal Raghavan

Gopal Raghavan, Ph.D., Co-founder of Eta Compute, is an expert in engineering design and innovation for advanced technologies that solve the world’s toughest challenges. Prior to co-founding Eta Compute, Dr. Raghavan was the CTO of the Cadence Design Systems IP Division. Before Cadence, he co-founded Inphi Corporation (NYSE: IPHI), a company that set new standards for ultra-high bandwidth optical solutions. Before Inphi, he worked at Hughes Research and for Intel. Dr. Raghavan earned his bachelor’s degree in technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and both his master’s and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University.

David Baker

David Baker, Ph.D., is the Chief Architect at Eta Compute, where he develops asynchronous processors, and standard logic for energy constrained applications. Prior to Eta Compute, Dr. Baker held a number of founder, vice president and director positions at Ambiq Micro, Firefly CPU, Green Hills Software, Legerity, Inc., SigmaTel, Inc., Brooktree, Compaq Computers, and IBM and others. Dr. Baker earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronics engineering from New Mexico State University, and both his master’s and doctorate degrees in electrical and electronics engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. He has been awarded more than 40 patents.

Bryan Cope

Bryan Cope is vice president of SoC architecture and realization for Eta Compute. Mr. Cope has twenty five years of experience leading teams developing SoCs, targeted at both low-power and high-performance applications. While he began his career with IBM, he quickly discovered a love for the startup environment while working at Equator Technologies. Since that time, Mr. Cope has led teams at several hardware startup companies, most recently at Ambiq Micro prior to joining Eta Compute. He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer engineering from North Carolina State University.

Chet Jewan

Chet Jewan is vice president of sales and business development at Eta Compute. Mr. Jewan has over 20 years of Sales and Marketing experience, prior to joining Eta Compute, he was VP of Sales at Rambus Inc, he held various senior marketing and sales roles at Inphi Corporation including VP of Worldwide Sales and Sales Operations. Senior Product Marketing Manager at Intel Corporation and Level One Communications. Mr. Jewan earned his masters of business administration from University of South Florida and bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Florida Agriculture Mechanical University & Florida State University.

Paul Murtagh

Paul Murtagh Ph.D., vice president of analog design, has over thirty years of experience implementing novel analog architectures that significantly lower power consumption. Prior to Eta Compute, Dr. Murtagh was senior principal engineer at Inphi Corporation focused on analog design and memory interface circuits. Dr. Murtagh has published articles in IEE Proceedings and the Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing regarding hardware implementations of artificial neural networks. Dr. Murtagh holds a bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from The University of Queensland, Australia. His master’s and Ph.D. degrees are focused on hardware implementations of artificial neural networks. He is a senior member of IEEE and has been awarded 4 US patents.

Chao Xu

Chao Xu, Ph.D., vice president of technology brings more than 20 years of experience in the advanced signal processing and machine learning, networking semiconductor, and silicon photonics. Prior to Eta Compute, Dr. Xu served as senior director of communication systems and computing and storage platform at Inphi Corporation. Prior to Inphi, he held senior R&D positions at Integrated Device Technology and PMC-Sierra. Dr. Xu has over 30 pending and awarded patents. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, a master’s of science degree and a bachelor of engineering degree in electrical engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China. His research area includes speech recognition, noise robustness, feature extraction, and other general machine learning methods.

Leon brings to us over 25 years of HR experience with high-tech companies, including SiBeam, Inphi and InvenSense. His experience includes running HR departments for start-ups to mid-size companies. He specializes in developing HR processes, recruiting, total rewards, executive coaching, management training, and team building. Beyond serving as an HR professional, he teaches at University of California, Santa Cruz Extension.
