Are you a non-technical person working in the chip design industry with chip design colleagues speaking what seems like a different language? If so, then this class is for them, too.
Or are you a chip designer working with others who sometimes have no idea what you’re talking about? If so, then this class is for you, too.
This one-hour, on-line Master Class, “Introduction to Chip Design and EDA,” is brought to you by the ESD Alliance, a SEMI Technology Community. It is intended to provide non-technical staff who work in and around the chip design industry with a high-level overview of how these complex chips are designed. The class will also introduce the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools required to manage the design of today’s complex chips. While you won’t learn how to design chips in this class, you will gain an appreciation of the complex design flows and an understanding of some of the terminology used by chip design teams.
For students interested in technology, the course will introduce some of the rewarding challenges and career opportunities available in the chip design and EDA industries.
In this class, we will cover basic information about digital chips, then introduce some of the key steps in the design flow, along with the EDA tools used during design. We will also discuss some of the tradeoffs of different implementation methodologies and some of the design challenges presented by various critical applications such as medical and automotive systems.
The Master Class is on-line and will be held Thursday, June 25, from 10-11:30 a.m. PDT. Registration is open. Pricing for members is $49. Non-member pricing is $99. Student registration is free. More information and registration are available at https://semiamericas.org/esda-master-class.
