Shanghai Ship Blockade

This image shows ships sitting idly around Shanghai, causing global shipping delays. Shanghai's port is the largest seaport globally, with 2000 ships a month and 40 million shipping containers. I don't know when this picture was taken but here is the live map I use: https://www.marinevesseltraffic.com/ships-in-port/SHANGHAI/cn/type-Port

Either way traffic is heavy and delays are many. On the recent supply chain calls people have reported that some parts are getting easier to get and some are not but vendors are much better at multi sourcing now so over all things are getting better.

Does anyone have a photo of this? From the GPS it looks like you could walk across the bay ship to ship. A photo would give more context.

Semiconductor chips are shipped via air not sea,so it's irrelvant to current chip shortages
Finished packaged ICs shipped by air? Or just wafers?

What about supplies for making ICs? Semiconductor equipment? Slowdown would impact supply.

What about assembled circuit boards using ICs? Assembled electronics containing the circuit boards? Slowdown would impact supply to downstream customers, possibly demand to IC manufacturers.

Supply chain shocks are not good for anyone, and are very relevant to the chip shortages.

Yes, but chips go into bigger consumer goods, which are also manufactured in China. Just like for first CoVID chipocalyplse wave, the results will arrive in 4-6 months time.

Shortages turn into outages when news of shortages get to boardrooms, and people on the ground get an order to "buy it all now!"

This looks to be from an AIS system, most boats have them and they do give an exaggerated view. It is for collision avoidance and identification. Here is a pic of my AIS yesterday. Looks like a massive pileup.
