Agreement combines Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and IP Lifecycle Management (IPLM) systems for semiconductor and electronic system design

San Francisco, CA – November 6, 2018 – Methodics Inc, a leader in IP lifecycle management, today announced a partnership agreement with Siemens PLM Software that will bring the benefits of a combined, semiconductor-design-specific PLM/IPLM solution to mutual customers who face exploding design and data complexity challenges throughout their product development lifecycles. The agreement will see the two companies work together to integrate and jointly market an end-to-end solution to complete the enterprise-level ‘digital thread’ that connects the closed-loop data management platform for IC design.

The joint solution will leverage the PercipientTM IPLM platform from Methodics that is specifically geared toward managing the data, IP and design reuse requirements of advanced IC design. Percipient easily integrates with existing processes and PLM systems, bug trackers, SCMs, etc. and provides a critical link in the whole design chain.

This complements the enterprise-class digital innovation platform that Siemens provides to manage system designs from ideation through end of life. Its platform is also used by the companies in the automotive, aerospace, consumer products, energy, industrial equipment, marine and medical products markets, helping businesses run their entire operation by creating an environment where all product data and metadata can be organized, accessed and analyzed.

The collaborative platform from Methodics and Siemens helps to improve the semiconductor design process by connecting information that is typically

‘siloed’ in organizations to provide more timely, accurate and structured access to the most current and relevant data. The combined PLM/IPLM systems allow information to be made available immediately across the enterprise and consumed in formats that make sense for each stakeholder.

“The Methodics solution provides the ‘last mile’ of IC-specific data to complete the digitalization journey that our platform enables. This joint solution adds an important link in the enterprise’s digital thread that starts during product ideation and definition of requirements, and traces all the way into the semiconductor design process. Siemens PLM Software is committed to creating partnerships to help enhance the end-user experience of our customers,” Fram Akiki, vice president, Electronics & Semiconductor Industry, Siemens PLM Software.

“An enterprise-wide IP-driven design methodology is essential for any company designing complex ICs, and that requires a best in class IP management system. The type of information and processes needed are unique but synergistic to traditional PLM platforms, so connecting the two types of systems enables even more efficiency across the enterprise,” said Michael Munsey, Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at Methodics. “Through the integration of our two companies’ solutions, semiconductor companies reap the benefits of streamlined and cost-efficient business processes – plus optimized IC design methodologies for the specific needs.”
