Intel is attacking Apple

I'm just wondering what the goal is. To get the Apple business back? Not gonna happen. Is Intel really worried about Macs versus PCs? Highly unlikely. This is just a sour grapes ad campaign in my opinion. Putting makeup on a bruised ego. Intel botched the Apple modem business and the CPU business. Produce the best silicon and you won't have to worry about losing customers.

Or is Intel trying to warn other customers what happens when you leave Intel? Seriously, what is the end game here?
Intel, who still seem to think of themselves as an 800lb gorilla (when in actuality they are now just a chimpanzee), is trying to pick a fight with an actual 800lb gorilla. Best case scenario for Intel is Apple will decide this monkey business is not worth their while.

Intel is not marketing the CPUs directly to consumers much (which makes sense since very few people buy them). On the other hand, Intel business/sales depend on the health of PC ecosystem. So, Intel is probably promoting PC ecosystem to end users. This campaign is reminiscent of the Apple's own Mac vs. PC campaign which was much nastier than what Intel is doing now and lasted a few years. All companies do it: Apple did it, Microsoft is doing it (Surface commercials), Samsung is doing it (a lot). Intel's ads are the least offensive of them all.

Followers do that not leaders. I have Zero regard for Samsung marketing as well. Apple was their foundry customer too. How else does an Eye for an Eye strategy end but blindness?

This train has already left the station. Apple officially declared that they are stopping use of Intel CPUs in a few months. Otherwise, Intel probably would not be doing it. And as far as personal/server computers are concerned, Apple is still a chimpanzee. Their WW market share is not much higher than it ever was. Unlike in the past, this does not prevent them from investing in chip design however because their profits from other business segments are very high and the same chip architecture is used for smart phones and tablets (which makes these investments worth while).

Probably someone in the Intel's top leadership team believes:

1. Intel doesn't need (or doesn't care about) such small customer like Apple.

2. Intel won't have any product in the future that may count Apple as a customer.

3. To attack Apple now (even Apple is still buying Intel CPU for another one to two years) is setting a good example for any customers who are staying with Intel for now.

4. His/her brain is among the best of the best in the world.
