Intel’s Gelsinger Predicts Intel Inside Everything. ~ July 3, 2008

What’s the metric look like if we use mm2 or $ in revenue total? X86 should be a lot higher in terms of revenue..

It's hard to tell. Using Apple APU and Intel i5, i7, i9 as the example:

1. Apple's APUs are for internal use. There is no "revenue" associated to Apple APU.

2. Intel's processors do generate revenue but we don't know the volume and pricing details.

3. We may use Intel CPU retail price as the reference. But those retail price probably are a lot more than what Dell, HP, Leveno, or Asus paid. Those Intel OEM customers contribute more than 50% of Intel revenue.

4. Intel CPUs come with different size and typically they are much larger than Apple APUs. Consequently it's difficult to calculate the revenue per mm square without the detailed volume and revenue information.
