In 2014, Masayoshi Son proposed to Jensen Huang the idea of acquiring all of NVIDIA.

Isn't that the Japanese guy who bought WeWork and is known for making ruinous malinvestments?
No wonder he failed to buy NVIDIA before the stock skyrocketed.

Failed to buy nvidia? He did bought nvidia but sold too early. Still made $3.3 billion.
 
Looking back, Intel made a good decision to part ways with Softbank.

All indications are the Intel could not deliver what Softbank wanted -- so Softbank dropped Intel and went a different direction.

Intel does not have enough foundry customers to be selective.

Intel does not have enough foundry customers to be selective.
They need their customers to fill their Arizona fabs with 18A and Ohio fabs with 14A. With SoftBank, they are speculating. Just a few months ago, they mentioned plans to develop AI chips to compete with Nvidia, but now they are committing to using Nvidia's chips.

On the other hand, Intel is partnering with Amazon for future products.
