BURLINGTON — A massive $2.5 billion military microchip operation in Coffey County was named the Kansas Semiconductor Manufacturing Consortium, according to the Coffey County Republican. It was formerly known as Silicon Prairie.

Coffey County commissioners authorized the consortium last week by signed a public-private partnership.

The agreement identifies the initial parties of KSMC.

Coffey County and Flint Hills Technical College are the public parties. The six private industries include EMP Shield, Inc.; PSU of Kentucky, LLC; Rusty Electronics, LLC; Secure Capacitors, LLC; Shady Ridge Manufacturing, LLC; and KPN Technology, Inc.
