Chinese Hiring TSM Senior Engineers and Managers

Quanxin Integrated Circuit Manufacturing (Jinan) and Wuhan Hongxin Semiconductor Manufacturing Co have hired over a 100 senior TSMC engineers and managers. You can bet the Chinese consider this a way to make a big leap. Now all they need is access to some of the restricted specialized equipment that they will try to procure or copy by any means necessary. You can bet this is only part of an ongoing process that has been going on for years, but is being stepped up due to the current political and conflict environment. This has been ongoing, but is being stepped up. You can bet TSM will be looking at their chips for stolen IP.

Do you know how many engineers and managers Apple hired from top IC companies?
The difference is Apple and TSM are very close allies, with Apple providing funding for TSM projects and being key in helping TSM surpass Samsung who Steve Jobs literally hated for IP theft concerning the first iPhone.

According to this article (in Chinese...so please use Google Translate), none of the ex-TSM engineers and managers that have poached had a complete picture of TSMC's trade secrets. Further, TSMC requires its suppliers of production equipment not to sell wafer equipment that is "customized by TSMC" to mainland China.

Are we a technical community here or are we playing the political game? How many engineers and top architects, scientists and whoever important have you seen changing employers? Why are we not discussing about IP theft and all the rest in ALL those cases? I am not implying that IP theft may NOT occur but for example Apple hiring GPU architects and CPU designers from all over industry hasn't given them a best in class SoC? Intel has done the same, AMD has done the same, Broadcom, Qualcomm, nVidia etc etc. This is the most western thing that the Chinese could do, hire talent in order to develop expertise.
