SMIC announces resignation of core technical personnel

Huawei is building a fab in Wuhan, supposedly for 28nm and equipped entirely with China domestically made equipment. However very hard to find additional details. They are hiring, sometimes with significant compensation premium.

28nm using all chinese equipment and material? would that be possible?

I've checked many Chinese news. this is a confirmed news. Wu is one of 5 core technical employees at SMIC. He recently got rewarded with 16萬股 (160,000) SMIC stocks. He is one of two core technical employees that doesn't have TSMC background. the rumor is he is leaving for Huawei.

what does this mean for SMIC?
No wonder, Taiwanese who were running mainland's IC industry are leaving in droves.

Yes, I have heard this as well. Living under communist rule is not worth the money being paid. Also, they fear for their security if a conflict arises.
