Webinar: How to couple Lumerical and Speos for Diffuse Scattering

Ansys offers a new advanced workflow to model how light is scattered by surface roughness at the sub-wavelength scale with Ansys Lumerical FDTD and see how it is perceived by the human eye with realistic illumination conditions with Ansys Speos.

In this webinar, we’ll explain how to model and simulate a diffusive scattering film used on an automotive display to lower reflections that could distract the driver under various sun positions and the different light conditions.

The film will be designed with a parametric rough surface model and simulated in forward and backward directions to create a 360-degree BSDF surface with Ansys Lumerical FDTD. Next, this BSDF is imported in Ansys Speos as an optical property that is fully compatible with 3D CAD, sun and sky model, HPC for fast simulations and GPU for live preview. Designers can finally experience the display on a SUV dashboard and evaluate glare or readability with Human Vision, a unique feature in Ansys Speos.

This workflow can be extended to diffuse particle-based films for display, car body paint and even cosmetics.
