Pharmaceutical companies of all sizes look for ways to reduce cost and increase quality in an increasingly challenging business climate. Using simulation and modeling (in silico design) tools is proving to be a powerful approach to help the healthcare industry optimize its investments in emerging technologies and accelerate the pace of innovation in drug manufacturing.

Discrete element modeling (DEM) and Ansys Rocky emerge as differentiated mechanistic modeling tools to advance the process and understanding of solid dosage and the small-molecule drug manufacturing process. This is because the solution accurately predicts the motion and interactions of discrete particles with each other and the surrounding boundaries, accounts for cohesion, particle deposition, liquid-solid interaction, particle breakage and more.

What Attendees Will Learn

Attend this lunch and learn to discover why Ansys Rocky DEM coupling with computational fluid dynamics is increasingly used to simulate pharmaceutical manufacturing and drug delivery systems. During this event, you will:

  • Get an overview of Ansys Rocky and its applications to several pharmaceutical unit processes including tablet coating, powder mixing, blending drying, inhaler design, tablet compaction, and more.
  • Learn about the underlying simulation capabilities that have enabled Rocky to bring DEM simulation to everyday engineering in the pharmaceutical industry. You’ll see how the solution provides a realistic representation of particles of any shape and can run many particles using multiprocessor GPUs to provide a flexible, fully customizable solver API.
  • Gain a perspective on the predictive capabilities of simulation and the applicability of “digital twins” as a predictive tool in the near future.

Space is limited for this event; please register today to reserve your seat. Lunch will be provided during this event and participants will be required to wear a mask. We ask that you do not attend if you test positive for, exhibit symptoms, or know you have been exposed to COVID-19.
