Introduction to ANSYS Multiphysics Antenna Simulation

November 13, 2019 @ 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Venue:
ANSYS, Inc.

Suite 290
Irvine, CA 92602
USA

Contact:

This 2-day hands-on introductory level class introduces engineers to Multiphysics simulation of antenna systems including geometry preparation, high frequency electromagnetic simulation, and thermal analysis. This powerful combination of technologies ensures the antenna will perform as expected in the installation environment.

Day 1: Geometry preparation with ANSYS SpaceClaim and Antenna Simulation with ANSYS HFSS

Day 2: Thermal analysis with ANSYS ICEPAK

Learning outcomes:

  • Prepare geometry for simulation
  • Simulate the electromagnetic performance of an antenna
  • Extract thermal loads from electromagnetic simulation
  • Perform cooling analysis of an antenna

Instructors:

Jared Harvest graduated with his master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Villanova University in 2005. After a year working in production, he joined the ANSYS team and has been with ANSYS for over 13 years. Jared is a lead applications engineer on the thermal-electronics Icepak team in the Irvine, California ANSYS office. His work includes product testing and support of regional and major US customers for electronics cooling.

Damir Senic received the M.Sc. degree in 2008 and Ph.D. degree in 2014, both from University of Split, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, Split, Croatia. He is currently with ANSYS as an application engineer. His research interests include millimeter wave radio communications, Over-the-Air (OTA) measurements in reverberation chambers at millimeter wave and microwave frequencies, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and bioeffects of EM fields. Dr. Senic received Richard E. Merwin Award of IEEE Computer Society for exemplary involvement in IEEE activities and excellent academic achievement in 2013. From 2013 to 2014 he was a guest researcher and from 2015 to 2018 a postdoctoral research associate both with the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Boulder, CO. In 2016, Dr. Senic was elected as a distinguished reviewer of the IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility.
