Senior Cloud Engineer

Job Summary:

Altair is hiring a highly technical Cloud Engineer to help our customers complete implementations of key cloud migrations. The Cloud Engineer will work in a hands-on fashion to deliver proof-of-concept projects, product validations, and lead implementation projects. These professional services engagements will focus on key customer solutions in the area of high-performance computing including machine learning, deep learning, and genomics.

This is an opportunity to work with customers’ deploying leading edge research into dedicated and hybrid cloud environments. You will work in a variety of business environments, on site and remotely leading the customer’s cross-functional teams through high impact projects using the latest cloud technologies.

What You Will Do:

• Cloud Expertise – Collaborate with the Sales and Systems Engineering teams to help customers learn and utilize Altair’s solution for deploying clusters in public cloud environments.
• Solutions Engineering – Define and deliver on-site and remote technical engagements with various teams, partners, and customers. This includes participating in on-site visits with prospective customers, understanding customer requirements, and proposing and delivering our offerings.
• Delivery – Engagements will include assisting with migration of existing applications, workflow and data, and deployment of new applications using public cloud services. Engagements include brief on-site projects proving the use of public cloud services to support new HPC distributed computing solutions that can span on-premise services.
• Oversight & Feedback – Work with the Product Management and Support teams to convey partner and customer feedback as input to technology roadmaps. Share real world implementation challenges and recommend new capabilities that would simplify adoption and drive greater value from use of cloud services.

Basics:

• Highly technical and analytical, possessing 7 years of IT implementation experience with specific expertise with at least one of the major public cloud players
• Proven skills and experience with implementing solutions in public clouds with specific expertise with one or more of AWS, Google or Azure.
• Strong customer facing skills to represent our company within the customer’s environment and to drive discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management and risk mitigation
• Solid verbal and written communications skills and ability to lead effectively across organizations
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and communicate about business, product, and technical challenges
• Deep hands-on experience leading the design and deployment of business software at scale
• Current hands-on systems implementation experience, including specific skills in networking, storage management and authentication
• Strong Linux Administration experience
• Experience in HPC is preferred and continuing deeper technical experience with HPC tools and solutions is a key part of this role
• BS level technical degree or equivalent required; Computer Science or Math background preferred
